Interference with other RF networks

Bluetooth shares the 2.4-GHz ISM band with Wi-Fi, ZigBee, and a bunch of other wireless devices, so there’s likelihood for interference with every BLE-based system.

However, Lumos Controls has been used in highly sensitive environments such as in hospitals and bank buildings, where reliability and security of communication are critical. In case interference leads to the loss of a BLE packet during transmission, up to 3 retries are made, which ensures that the communication reaches every intended recipient through the BLE mesh.

Furthermore, the mobile app also provides options to control the interval at which certain BLE packets are transmitted to the mesh from devices. This offers flexibility to handle environments with busy traffic over the 2.4-GHz spectrum.
