Before enabling Demand Response (DR) functionality, ensure your lighting control system is properly commissioned and configured using the Lumos Controls mobile application.
Follow these step-by-step instructions to ensure a smooth and successful setup.
1. Prepare the System
a. Install the Lumos Controls Mobile App
Available on both iOS and Android platforms.
Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
b. Create or Log in to Your Account
New users: Sign up within the app.
Existing users: Simply log in using your credentials.
2. Commission and Configure Lighting Controls
Power on your Lumos-compatible lighting devices.
Use the app to detect and commission them to your account.
Navigate to the Groups tab.
Create groups for different spaces (e.g., Conference Room, Open Office).
Assign lights or plug load controllers to the relevant groups.
c. Create Lighting Scenes
Set up multiple lighting states for each group based on DR needs:
Scene 1 – OFF / Very Low Brightness (for peak load shedding)
Scene 2 – Medium Brightness (for moderate demand events)
Scene 3 – High/Required Brightness (for normal operation)
Note – for any controllers that requires only relay ON/OFF functions (eg: Plug loads), configure 2 scenes with ON and OFF actions.
3. Set Up the Demand Response Gateways
To enable automated demand response based on utility signals, you'll need to install and connect two key components:
a. Connect the Gateways
Wire the Enor EU Gateway to the OpenADR Gateway using a USB Type-A to RS232 (DB9) converter cable.
This allows the Enor EU device to receive demand response signals.
b. Power the Devices
Use the provided power cords to supply power to both gateways.
c. Connect OpenADR Gateway to Network
Plug an Ethernet (RJ45) cable into the OpenADR gateway.
Ensure it is connected to a network with internet access.
Once the system is commissioned, grouped, and the gateways are connected:
The Lumos Controls system is now ready to respond automatically to utility demand response events.
Lights and plug loads will adjust according to the configured scenes—maximizing energy savings during peak periods while maintaining user comfort.
