What is a Zone and why do I need to add devices to it?

A Zone is a common "location" to which Lumos Controls devices must be added if they need to communicate with each other. All devices added (commissioned) to a Zone will share specific zone settings. Even if only one device is to be used it must be added to its own Zone to ensure it can be controlled from the Lumos Controls app.

When a device is added to a Zone, it can then be controlled from the Lumos Controls app. Additional devices can be added to an existing zone if required at a later date.

All devices in a Zone automatically form a BLE wireless mesh link to other nearby Lumos Controls devices in the same Zone. This enables seamless communication between all devices in that Zone and the possibility to control every device in the Zone together or individually, even if you are only within Bluetooth range of one device.
